Description

Sixty years ago, when I was a child growing up in Jamaica, it felt like paradise. Although the Island was never the embodiment of material opulence, as a child, it was a wonderful experience growing up in the environment that existed at that time. As I remember it, the Jamaica of my youth, was relaxed and carefree. Fear and security were never issues of primary concern.

However, today the ever darkening shadow of crime and violence has significantly tarnished that Jamaica of my youth. Instead many are coerced into a life of scamming and gang warfare, lured in by the glitter and glamor of flashy cars, designer clothes, wealth, and power.

Caribbean Health Outreach (CHO) recognizes the importance of investing in our youth and providing them better choices, tools, and options for their life’s journey. For the past five years, CHO has been a patron sponsor of Carey Park Basic School located in Duncans, Trelawny, a picturesque section of the Jamaican north coast.
Our goal at Carey Park Basic School is to create a foundational thirst for knowledge that will effectively place these children on successful pathways towards self-actualization, a sense of purpose, good values, good citizenship.

Recently, we have begun a new endeavor at the school; the construction of a Library and Computer Lab. We believe that early exposure to a rich reading environment, advanced technology, and interactive learning tools will contribute substantially to their future success.

We are now in the final construction stage of this project. But we still have a way to go, and so we need your help. To complete the project, we must raise approximately USD $5,000.

With this amount, we will be able to complete construction of a chain link fence, purchase computers, furniture, and books.

Therefore we have setup this crowdfunding campaign and invite you to donate as much as you can right now towards this vital humanitarian project.

Your donations will help provide these beautiful children, the future hope of Jamaica, a real opportunity in fulfilling their true potential. Your contributions may very well be the key to stemming the flow of Jamaica’s youth into a life of crime and violence.

To join our crowdfunding campaign, please click on the Donate Button below, then dig as deep as possible into your pocket books or credit cards to make a difference in the lives of our kids at Carey Park Kindergarten.

Thanks for your time and your generosity.
